Highlights: Picturesque El Chaltén, Drive to El Chaltén
Started the day with a walk around Ushuaia scoping out this small town that I’ll be back at in around 11 days to depart to Antarctica. The mountains and terrain are stunning.

Highlights: The snow capped mountains of Ushuaia
Last night it rained all night and then at 7.30 am the power went out for a few seconds, I was glad not to be in the European style lift (i.e. tiny) at the time. This made checking out a lot longer as the hotel’s systems took along time to come back on.

Highlights: Bike tour of Buenos Aires, Recoletas cemetery, Botanical Gardens
Walking to the start of my scheduled bike tour I came across a Sunday market. It’s funny how sometimes just walking around can result in expected events. Walking down a cobble street with all the noise and passion of a local market was very cool.

Highlights: Tango Show
An outstanding night watching the mesmerising and passionate dance that is the tango. I started writing this entry after midnight with the stunning dancing and singing still on my mind, the bottle of wine I had during the performance might had effected my positive mood as well 🙂

Highlights: Business class lounge and long haul flight.
With the European leg over it was time to leave and move onto the major highlight of this world trip the Argentina and Antarctica tour.
Today marks the end of the second leg of my world trip to Europe. This was a quick leg of only 11 days (12 counting today) covering Iceland, England, Germany and Spain but still had a lot of highlights in particular in Iceland.
Iceland is a place that has always fascinated me, maybe it´s because it is so far away from Australia. The landscape of Iceland is not o be missed, it´s like being on another planet really. The temperature can get a bit extreme but there are a lot of spas, but man made and natural. Spain surprised me a little with my visit to Segovia being a major highlight. It´s funny how you can put little thought into some placesbut then come away very happy.
That is always what happen with the catch up with Gareth and Emma and their two young boys Henry and George. This wasn´t on the cards but I got to see some great people and play with their boys, top stuff really. Gareth even dropped my off to see “Yes Prime Minister” so that made it a great night. The day bike riding was also a surprise finding canals and inlets I never knew existed so close to Central London.
The protests in London and Madrid also highlighted the ecomonic problems Europe is currently experiencing.

A day spent outside Madrid turned into an exceptional highlight. I was worried about rain when I walked to the tour company, this was only raised when the guide said it was definitely going to rain today and a lot. Despite this the universe was looking out for me today and it only rain when we were on the bus, cool 🙂

Highlights: Madrid at night tour, Flamenco dancing show
There is definitely something to be said for being able to walk to the airport terminal from your hotel room. I’m always worried about getting delayed, not much chance of that when you are staying at the airport. I did learn today that flying to Madrid means less security as it is part of Europe but my last flight from here to the UK did not get the same consideration, interesting since I thought they were both part of the EU.

I had originally planned to go on this tour at 3.30 pm but last night it was moved to 9.30 am. This meant an earlier start, the hotel breakfast (from my unearned Hilton status) involved a huge selection.

Highlights: Easy free travel day.
Today was a travelling day to allow me to get back to Frankfurt and continue on my Round the World ticket on Wednesday. Breakfast in the Hilton Executive Lounge was once again provided an extensive choice, a great bonus getting free access. With any luck I’ve get upgrades later in the trip when in the USA.
