Highlights: Prague Palace, St Nicks Cathedral

Over the 2 full days in Prague I undertook a walking tour that included visits to Prague Palace and through the city to their historic sites.

Visiting the Jewish sector and getting the story of how they lost over 60,000 Jews in WW2 (2,000 returned) closed off my visit earlier at the Gestapo Jail. Standing in front of the building where Communism was announced as over in 1989 it was interesting to note that the building was now a Marks & Spencer (UK department store), times have changed.

Unfortunately Prague is no a travellers longer a bargain in Europe. Tourists are everywhere and talking to the locals they told me that citizens can no longer afford to buy everyday goods as a result of the prices going up with the tourist intakes. Beer however is an exception. The St Nicks Cathedral was worth a visit, some stunning sights and paintings.   In Prague at least the local church does let you take photos, something I know I won’t be able to do in Rome 😦

I spend most of my time with Belinda and Shawn fellow BusAbout travellers. On the last night 18 of us went out to a local pub and had a great night. You certainly don’t seem lonely on the road when travelling on BusAbout as you keep running into fellow travellers.

One of my concerns about this trip was travelling alone but it seems that I can make friends and share funny stories or more importantly listen to them 🙂
