Highlights: Train ride and sights at Top of Europe at Jungfrajoch
This place is just amazing the photos do no justice at all. Staying in a campsite for the first time I had a waterfall just outside my room. I stayed in a cabin with Luke (who I met in Bern) and Richie (NZ), each day we cooked a joint meal (Switzerland is very expensive). Luckily for me I got to go up to the ‘Top of Europe – Jungfrajoch’, which is the highest train station in Europe. The weather have this train trip cancelled the last few days apparently.
The temperature was a cold minus 9 degrees and I had basically all my backpacking clothes on just to stop myself from freezing but it still felt very cold. The views were amazing, I was over 3,500 metres (around 11,900 feet) and some people struggled to breath at this height.
Later in the day some clouds came in but they were below where I was which makes for a good sight. I loved this place, the ice palace and all the great viewing despite the early start to get up to the top (6 am) and the extreme low temperatures. I’d highly recommend a visit to this mountain range.
