This was my first time in a while back in economy for a long haul international flight but being very cheap ($420 AUD one way) and with Hong Kong not allowing airline surcharges on award flights it made better sense to start premium award flights from there instead of Melbourne.

Highlights: Qantas Melbourne First Class Lounge
So the short (by my standards) trip to Hong Kong, Nepal and Tibet (China) finally begins. I booked this trip to make the most of my Qantas Platinum membership before I get downgraded, a cheap airfare to Hong Kong and a chance to visit Nepal which I’ve had recommended many times before.

Note: I had previously visited this lounge in November 2017 (review here) but in the afternoon not morning. This review will be very similar except it is in the morning (so breakfast not lunch / dinner) and a spa treatment.
So I’m now less than 24 hours out from my next overseas trip. This 19 day trip will cover Hong Kong, Nepal and Tibet with Nepal and Tibet being new countries to visit (although Tibet is special region of China and I have visited China before in 2006).
