    Highlights: Successfully leaving Cuba

    Unfortunately I didn’t get to see any of my tour group today. I’m the first one leaving Cuba but I’ll be the last one to get home next February. I enjoyed what will be the last included breakfast for the next few weeks.

    Highlights: Che Guevara mausoleum and memorial, Ice cream at Santa Clara Square, Night club farewell

    A leisurely start today as I slept in an enjoyed a lovely breakfast before a late checkout at 10 am. The good news was my right hand was starting to feel better, the bad news was I had heaps of bites on my legs 😦

    Highlights: Government Internet Restrictions, Romantic museum, Trinidad Street Market, Palacio del Valle (Cienfuegos), Trishaw ride.

    While a lot of our group set off for a visit to the beach I had decided to visit the sites in the town. Before that however I lined up at the local Government telephone company to access the Internet.

    Only foreigners can access the Internet which is dial up speed (on the slow side) and you can not download and open email attachments. I had to do this as the dates for my next stay in Cancun were wrong but I managed to get it fixed and book a shuttle.

    Highlights: Cayo Blanco Island Catamaran Cruise, Snorkelling in the Caribbean, Beach Volleyball, Dinner at Dady’s

    Gareth, Heidi, Shane and myself decided to go sailing in the Caribbean today. Actually locals are no longer allowed to do this unless they have a special license. The Cuban government is worried about defectors taking the boat to the USA.

    Highlights: Vintage cars, Walking tour of Trinidad, Street Nightclub Dancing

    Today we had a long 8 hour drive to Trinidad. During the drive I got to witness the many types of transportation in Cuba. They have these classic old American cars from the fifties, Russian cars from the sixties and seventies, modern Asian cars which all mix with bicycles and horses. It really is an interesting mix. Personally I love the old American cars which still work and look great.
