Highlights: Vintage cars, Walking tour of Trinidad, Street Nightclub Dancing
Today we had a long 8 hour drive to Trinidad. During the drive I got to witness the many types of transportation in Cuba. They have these classic old American cars from the fifties, Russian cars from the sixties and seventies, modern Asian cars which all mix with bicycles and horses. It really is an interesting mix. Personally I love the old American cars which still work and look great.
My homestay in Trinidad is actually a two story house so they are very well off. The father spoke a little English and his son a lot so I got a chance to chat a bit during my stay. After a settling in period we went out on a short orientation tour of Trinidad. This is actually Dady’s home town and she was happy to show it off.
Dady arranged for me to get my hair cut by a local who looks after the neigh pod as a side job. In fact most Cubans run side business. This gave me another chance to go behind an ordinary door and see the extraordinary setups Cubans seem to have. This is the great thing with the home stays seeing things a tourist normally wouldn’t.
Later in the night we returned to the ‘steps’ near the local church and watched Cubans sing and dance up a storm!
