SUMMARY
The Singapore Airlines SilverKris (Business Class) Lounge is an okay way to spend some time before a flight and especially good for a shower before your flight for hydration. It has an okay food and drink selection range. It’s not that big, and it feels a little outdated and, like most of the Business Lounges in this area of the Melbourne Airport, has no views or direct sunlight.
If you can it is better to access Singapore Airlines’ Star Alliance partner lounge the Air New Zealand Koru (Business Class) Lounge instead which I found to be a gem.
ACCESS RULES
- First Class Customers (including departing on other Star Alliance Flights)
- Business Class Customers (including departing on other Star Alliance Flights)
- Solitaire PPS Club and PPS Club members
- KrisFlyer Elite Gold or Star Alliance Gold members
I gained access by flying Singapore Airlines Business Class (Melbourne to Singapore).
LOUNGE LOCATION
This lounge is located airside in the Terminal 2 Satellite Concourse Level 1 near Gate 6 most Business Lounges are located in this Terminal. You take escalators down one level.
Lounge Opening hours: Three hours prior to Singapore Airlines flight. Shuts when no flight within that window. Currently 0635 to 0935 hours / 1240 to 1825 hours / 2035 to 2335 hours.
Note: I only accessed this lounge for 35 minutes before heading to my boarding gate.
LOUNGE AREA
The lounge has both a First and Business class area. First class section is accessed by turning right on entry and Business class section is accessed by turning left (which is the area I had access to).

The chairs are comfortable but showing their age.

FOOD AND DRINKS
A selection of hot foods was available at the time I visited (5.20 pm local time), including ginger chicken rice, and stir-fry noodles.

For cold items there is fresh fruit, salad, yogurt, ice cream, finger sandwiches, cheese and crackers, mixed nuts, smarties and biscuits. I went for smarties and ice cream, lovely 😊

There is no tended bar here. There is a Nespresso machine and teabags neither that I needed or used. The well-stocked fridges carry an assortment of soft drinks, beers, wines, and juices.

FACILITIES AND SERVICES
Includes: Toilets / Showers / Wi-Fi (slow to medium speeds) / Printers (no computers) / Power Charging Outlets / Mounted TVs (throughout lounge).

Two separate shower rooms are on offer, including one with baby change facilities. Towels are present within the room, and generic shampoo/conditioner/body wash pumps are also available.

WHAT’S GOOD
- The showers.
WHAT’S NOT SO GOOD
- Lack of natural light
- Tired look
- Limited lounge space
- Power charging outlets which did not have USB ports.
