Time of day: Afternoon / Early Evening

Rating: 4.5 / 5

ACCESS RULES

  • Virgin Atlantic Upper Class (business class) passengers
  • Virgin Atlantic Flying Club Gold members
  • Delta’s Gold, Platinum, and Diamond Medallion members
  • Virgin Australia’s Velocity Gold and Platinum members
  • Singapore Airlines’ exclusive PPS and Solitaire PPS members

I gained access by flying Singapore Airlines First Class that evening (New York to Frankfurt).

LOUNGE LOCATION
The lounge is located airside in JFK’s Terminal 4 beyond the TSA checkpoint, in the A-Concourse and above boarding gates A4 and A5

Lounge Opening hours: 4:15AM to 7:15AM and 2:30PM to 10:30PM (daily)

LOUNGE AREA
A significant sized lounge with natural light and provides good views of the airport runways, in particular Virgin Atlantic flights that leave from nearby gates. There is a range of unique and funky seats from standard seats to sofas to armchairs and booth seats.

FOOD AND DRINKS
There are several decorative bars thoughout the lounge and a formal restaurant area although you will be served from the restaurant menu wherever you sit.

You can enjoy complimentary food and drink, including an a la carte menu, and a friendly waiter service means you can sit back and relax anywhere in the lounge. There is no self-service station.

See the JFK Clubhouse Food and Drink Menus and JFK Clubhouse Cocktails Menu for more details.

I had the Beyond Burger (very nice and popular with most visitors) with vanilla ice cream for my late lunch.

After returning from exploring the airport terminal I also got some buffalo wings.

FACILITIES AND SERVICES
Includes: Toilets / Showers / Wifi / Computers (Two Apple Macs) / Power Charging Outlets, hand luggage store room (with a Big Apple in the Storage Room), and a pool table!

There is a spa service, where you can have a massage, beauty treatment. These services for Virgin and Delta customers are complimentary (for a 15 minute treatment) others can pay. See the JFK Spa Menu for the range of services and costs.

You might have to wait for a toilet as I did.

WHAT’S GOOD
The Virgin brand funky style is everywhere. Bright colours and a lot of energy radiate across the lounge. regular announcements which included estimated walking times to help people know when to leave. Very friendly staff.

WHAT’S NOT SO GOOD
No major short comings.

SUMMARY
The clubhouse is pitched as a business class lounge and would be one of the best business class lounges or a fair first class lounge.
