Tuesday 23 October 2018. Tibet Photos
Highlights: Mount Everest in the morning, Stunning landscape.
We it turns out trying to sleep above 5,000 metres is no easy task. During the night I consistently woke up requiring water as the air is so dry at this altitude. When the electric blanket kicked in at 1 am I eventually removed my jeans but otherwise slept with the some layers from yesterday.
I was the first up into the common room at 7 am in the morning which a slight headache that went away as soon as I went outside and breathed to -10 air. I decided to skip breakfast as I had no desire to have to use the Guesthouse long drop toilets and we had a 9 hour drive ahead of us.
But before we left I had one last chance to see Everest up close in the morning daylight.
While this was just a travel day it’s hard to not admire the freezing sights that nature provides in Tibet.
I found the entire group was quiet today, probably due to the very high altitude, lack of sleep last night and the big travel day ahead. I know I wore my ski gloves for the first half of the day.
I can say that everyone rushed to their rooms and a lukewarm shower, the first in three days for this eI use who couldn’t stand a cold shower back at Gyantse.
