Highlights: Swimming in Indian Ocean, Curio Shopping

I nice leisurely day sleeping in and enjoying the included breakfast on the hotel’s rooftop was a great way to ease into the day. We did have to leave until 10 am to go to Nungwi in the north of the island. For this trip extension Roz, Arran, Emilie, Logan and Tera were joining me along with Kapalia. Young Jessica was going to join us as well but pulled out.

The trip to Nungwi was in a large air conditioned van or mini bus, the perfect way to view the countryside in comfort. Most of us were staying at the Amana Bungalows Nungwi which was an impressive resort with multiple pools and being right on the coast. After lunch I went swimming in the Indian Ocean with Emilie and Logan joining me after a few minutes. The water wasn’t as warm as at Dar Es Salaam but was very enjoyable and clean.

Later that day Tera, Emilie, Logan and myself went curio shopping out in the local market area. I didn’t buy anything as I still have 30+ days to go but I joined watching the others bargain and viewing the different gifts available. We did notice however most of the locals were watching the Kenya vs Zanzibar football final.

That night, minus Tera, we enjoyed dinner at a restaurant outside the resort right on the ocean listening to the waves splash in.
