Highlights: Exploring Arequipa, Overnight bus to Nazca
Today was a free day to explore Arequipa. Getting up early I walked into the main square by myself, it’s been a while since I’ve tried to get my steps up. I was a very warm morning but I managed to find an ATM and hopefully withdraw money for the last time.
Later that morning the group, minus Indu, headed back to the main square for lunch. We got a good balcony spot to enjoy the square and the people. We split of into 2 groups, Emma, Gareth, Karen and myself decided to just walk around and see what we could find, this included a beautiful bridge and a cafe in a side street overlooking a church.
We checked out of all but one room which became our holding bay for the day, unfortunately there was a power blackout for a few hours so we could not update social media or send emails etc.
Dinner was back in the square at a different cafe, the service sucked and the meals were apparently bad except for my lasagne which was great. The group paid for my meal since I paid for last night’s BBQ. At 9 pm we said goodbye to Titch for the last time (who knows with this is his final farewell he keeps finding us!) and started an overnight bus ride to Nazca.
