World Trip 2009-2010: Day 15 – Iguassu Falls, Brazil

Friday 11 December 2009
Highlights: Natural Wonder of the World – Iguassu Falls

Our 21 hour and 30 minute bus rides from Paraty come to an end at 11 am which was followed up with a short shuttle ride to our new hotel which looked very impressive.   Unfortunately not all our rooms were ready and Andrew, Karen and myself found ourselves waiting for our rooms until just before 1 pm, so a little wait until we could have a quick shower and then visit the famous Iguassu Falls on the Brazilian side.

The falls are now officially one of the 7 natural wonders of the world. After we entered the natural park we were dropped off near what I’m guessing is an exclusive hotel.   From here we got our first view of the falls hiking along the river.   We could see the Argentina flag over of the other side and speed boats rushing around which await us tomorrow.

I was blown away by what I saw.   The temperature was very humid and as a rule I don’t go well in high humidity so this might be a challenge.   There we several great lookout points for the Falls and even one walk way that extends across the base of one of the bigger waterfalls.   I got very wet from this point and Andrew managed to find a reason to go bare-chested 🙂

We had a late lunch / early dinner inside the park.   Martin and I decided on the burger meal deal the others headed for the expensive buffet.   Unfortunately for me a bee got into my diet Spirite and I was feeling very thirsty in the heat despite the spry from the waterfalls so had to buy a replacement.

Later we were all exhausted so got back to the hotel and I crashed straight away to sleep with Andrew watching HBO movies in the background.
