World Trip 2006: Day 7 – Johannesburg to Mpumalnga to Balule Nature Reserve, South Africa

Tuesday 4 April 2006
Highlights: The tour starts, Bourke’s Luck, the Three Rondavels, Elephant sighting!

Today we took off early for the Balule Nature Reserve (bordering Kruger National Park). Our group includes Jan (guide), Marjia, Roger, Andreas, Carola, Anika, Niels, Jacko, Inge & Joern.

Along the way we got caught behind some cows but eventually got to Bourke’s Luck Potholes at Mpumalnga and saw some wonderful waterfalls, they used to be running with gold but we didn’t find any 🙂

Bourkes Luck PotholesThe last sight on the day was the Blyde River Canyon Nature Reserve were we saw the ‘Three Rondavels’ and we nearly lost Niels over the cliff.

Three RondavelsHeading into our camp we had some elephants walk across the road but no photos from me as they were on the wrong side of the truck 😦

We finished the night after Jan made as a great meal with a night around a fire with the animals keeping as enchanted, should be a great tour.
