As I get closer to retirement (January 2029) I increasingly start focusing on how to spend the remaining time working and immediate plans post-work to give you the freedom while I have a health to enjoy myself.
I have a basic plan now to travel each year. 2026, 2027 and 2028 trips are to keep me going and to start moving away from a central role at work and start training up replacements. Then from 2029 it is about enjoying life and ensuring I get the rewards my investments in finances and health deserve.
A lot of these plans will address outstanding items in my bucket list which I find inspiring and helps me get though another cold Melbourne winter.
2026
Middle East, Europe, and Africa (booked)
Visiting: Qatar, Jordan, Greece, Spain, Morocco.

2027
South Pacific Cruise (booked)
French Polynesia, Cook Islands, American Samoa, Samoa Islands, Fiji.

2028
Exploring Northen Europe and beyond
Iceland, Greenland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway plus I’m considering a European River cruise that could travel the Rhine, Main and Danube Rivers visiting Hungary, Austria, Germany, and the Netherlands.

2029
The Americas – Post Retirement Trip
Cruising Alaska (Inside Passage) and a cruise covering the Panama Canal likely visiting Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Mexico.

2030
International Sport and Mediterranean Cruise
Looking to attend an Ashes Test Match (cricket) in England and the French Open (tennis) in France with a follow-up Mediterranean cruise.

2031
Either a land tour to Far North Queensland or an African cruise
Since my Untamed Kimberley tour back in 2022 which covered a lot of Western Australia and the Northern Territory I’ve wanted to continue to explore my country, but Australia is vast and very expensive to explore. Far North Queenlands (as far as you can go is an aim one day). An African cruise would allow my to see more of this beautiful continent.

2032
Attend Brisbane Olympics
It will be very expense but booking a week or more in Brisbane and trying to go to as many events as possible would be a great experience.
