Highlights: Curio shopping, Ethiopian cuisine
With my upgraded room come an upgraded buffet breakfast at the hostel meaning I was eating in a different spot then the rest of the group. I decided to show off one of my tour t-shirts that I got yesterday which got noticed by people starting their travels. As a result I was quickly reminded that this is a hostel and not a hotel when a German couple invited me to their table to ask questions about overland tours as they correctly guessed I’d just finished one. Hostels are mostly a place for sharing stories across fellow travellers.
I did eventually catch up with the majority of the group at reception and we organised to catch up in nearby Long Street for a final lunch together after and before shopping for souvenirs.
I managed to find everything I was looking for plus a bonus parting gift for Arran and Roz of a guinea fowl which had become a running joke during the long tour. For lunch Roz suggested we try Ethiopian cuisine so this was another first. I went for a mix combination of chicken and fish.
Later in the day I got to view Table Mountain more fully for the first time which I was glad to see for the rest of the group given I’d seen this back in 2006. This was a nice way to finish my last full day in South Africa.
