It’s now less than 2 months before my once in a life time trip to the majestic continent of Africa begins.
I’ve booked my travel vaccinations in for Monday, I’ve gotten most of my money set aside (a worrying last amount of USD I need to carry!), flights booked, tour paid for, but sleeping bag still to get back from my sister Lana 🙂
A chance to complete a few items off the Bucket list, namely;
- Fly First Class on International Long Haul Flight
- Visit Victoria Falls
- See Gorillas in the Mist (Uganda / Congo)
Right now I’m thinking about the luxury of Emirates A380 first class on my flight to Dubai from Melbourne via Singapore. I think I’ll be trying out the shower at 30,000 feet and the bed during those two legs. The 10 hours layover in Dubai should see me in a nice hotel and then off to Nairobi on B777 in first class again followed by the reality of a basic hotel Wildebeest Eco Camp for a few days before my tour begins on 25 November.
Both Victoria Falls and the Gorillas in Uganda / Congo mountains will be amazing highlights but so too will be seeing the big 5 – elephants, rhinos, buffalos, lions and leopards in person (but not too close for the last two!). Visiting the Serengeti National Park should also be a great highlight.
Hopefully I’m up for the camping conditions, first class to camping class, followed by business class back to Australia. It should be wild!
