Over a period of five days last week I got to enjoy spending time with my family and friends all while enjoying some personal sporting success. Weeks like these make you appreciate everything in your life.
Wednesday
An invitation to a sporting night at Crown Casino meant an opportunity to see my best friend Jon in person for the first time since his wedding. Free drinks and food went well with a night listening to former AFL players Bill Brownless (a very funny fellow) and Barry Stoneham and NRL greats Andrew Johns and Billy Slater. Added bonus I won some money.

Saturday
My Saturday tennis team, who play in the Macedon Ranges Tennis Association, made the Section 2 Grand Final. I’ve been playing in the MRTA Section 2 for a while now but never getting to the last match of the season but this year was very different.
We won 38 games and 4 sets to 30 games and 2 sets. My personal sets were 7-5, 6-7 (tie break 8-10) and 7-5 (very tired afterwards). As this was the last match that my sister and myself will be playing in the MRTA for the foreseeable future it was a great way to finish. Loved captaining such a great group over the last few seasons.

Sunday
In what turned out to a celebration of the previous days victory I was back at Crown Casino with my sister Kara attending the Elvis – 40th Anniversary Concert at the Palms. Good seats, great music and great company made it an enjoyable Sunday afternoon.
Why it matters
We can get caught up in work and distractions but life is really about our family and friends and wherever possible having some fun. I got to have a lot of fun, especially with my amazing sister Kara 🙂
