Highlights: London Walking Tours – “London’s Secret Village” and “Gaslight Tour”
Today was my London Walks day. First I started with “London’s Secret Village” which is a visit around an area called Clerkenwell the highlight being visiting the place that William Wallace was killed. However the Bartholomew Church (the oldest one) in London and St John’s Gate was worth the visit as well. The greatest walk of my entire trip was in the evening on the Old Westminster by Gaslight walk.
Extremely enjoyable, Westminster really looks great at night. I got to see where Churchill lived before becoming Prime Minister and how he was planning for the war years. The real highlight however was going into Westminster and visiting the House of Commons. They were debating the Parliamentary Standards bill and it was full of passion mostly against including from the Government backbenchers, great free theatre! The Great Hall dating from 1200 was impressive as well. On this hot night I rode the 159 bus back to the flat. A very enjoyable day.
