Highlights: All-terrain vehicle desert safari
Our last night in Luxor saw the power go off and on 3 times, once when I was in the shower! Having successfully found my away around in the dark we headed off early to Hurghada. Hurghada is basically a resort town which seems to attract heaps of Russians with money. The best thing about Hurghada is we got to go on a desert safari. This meant two 50 minute ATV (All-terrain vehicle) rides.
I loved driving the ATV even thought I ended up with heaps of the desert on my face and clothes, something I’d love to do again. After we were out in the desert we stopped at a village. I went on a camel ride, as well as watching the locals make some bread and feed some goats. We finished with a BBQ before setting back to civilisation. Amy had to share a ride with an expert (the ATVs aren’t easy to control at first) and Mark did lose his helmet as well (but continued on anyway).
We got some great shots of the sun setting in the desert on the ride back. At the resort I didn’t go down to the man made beach but I’ll get a chance to swim in the Red Sea at our next stop. The Resort was definitely 5 stars; from here I’m sure it will be back to 3 stars or less 😦
