World Trip 2006: Day 100 – San Sebastian, Spain

Thursday 6 July 2006
Highlights: Playa de la Concha beach

Today I was determined to make it to the beach as you never know when the next chance might come (maybe in Canada).   The weather has been very cold…… by that I mean 26-27 which is very unusual here.   The overcast conditions kept the beaches manageable and I found a good shot to watch the crowds (well the women anyway).

The Playa de la Concha beach is easily among the best in the world. I also used my time to visited the local Cathedral and say hello to Jesus on the hill again (you never know with I’ll need him on day).   Reading about my next trip also got my attention.   Usually before a new leg I take a day off and relax after arriving, due to my unexpected world cup ticket I had to postpone leaving the Europe leg meaning when I get into Finland it is straight onto a tour.   As a result I have made San Sebastian my relaxation place, although it would have been good to run with the bulls tomorrow but alas I have to say goodbye. I face at least a 13 hour bus drive tomorrow followed the next day by a plane trip to Finland, should be an exhausting 2 days unfortunately.
