World Trip 1999-2000: Day 97 Stirling, Scotland

Monday 14 February 2000
Highlights: Stirling Castle

After a small breakfast we headed for Stirling Castle.  Today we had fairly constant drizzle and at times amazingly thick fog.

Stirling

The Castle dates from 14th century and was the country’s capital until James I moved to London in 1605.  The amazing aspect of the castle is the gold coloured Great Hall.  At first you think it is out of place with the grey walls but it is the other way around.  The whole castle looked this way and the statues were even brightly painted.  Very different to the normal imagine.

We ended up ten-pin bowling at the local AMF Centre.  This was a needed change of pace.  In the first two games it was one a piece and amazingly the last a draw at 117.  Our first ever draw after probably 50 plus games.  It was good fun.  We went back to the hostel and played 500 with Brian, and American staying in our room.
