    Highlights: Exploring the stunning Schönbrunn Palace, a night of ballet at the State Opera House watching Die Kameliendame.

    Today I wanted to explore the Schönbrunn Palace in Vienna. This summer palace was the main summer residence of the Habsburg rulers who purchased it in 1569 first making it into a game reserve for hunting.

    Highlights: St Stephen’s Cathedral, Franciscan Church, Augustinian Church, Hofbug Palace, Vienna’s many buildings, laneways and sculptures

    We woke to very fresh and cold weather which definitely wakes you up. Today I used warmer clothes to help with the colder weather. Just on 9 am we set off for Austria and Vienna. It took just over 3 hours to get to Vienna as we watch the beautiful countryside.

    Highlights: Exploring Český Krumlov and Český Krumlov Castle

    After an enjoyable time in Prague we were scheduled to leave our hotel at 9 am for Český Krumlov for a 2.5 hour private van transport however bad weather delayed our driver. This was a sign that bad weather was moving in as the temperature for the next week seems to mostly be in the mid-teens.

    Highlights: Trying a local special sweet – trdelnik, Climbing Petrin Hill Tower and observing beautiful Prague

    One of the less attractive aspects of travel is laundry. So today after breakfast we set off to a laundromat which took 30 minutes to walk, around 1.5 hours for wash and drying cycles and 30 minutes coming back. So while we lost the morning we still had the afternoon to explore Prague one last time.

    Highlights: Cruising the Vltara River, exploring the Jewish Quarter, traversing though Prague Castle, walking of Charles Bridge, enjoying a night of Folklore music

    A group of us from the tour organised to purchase a 4 activities package that provided us with 1) a hop on hop off ticket, 2) a river cruise ticket, 3) a walking tour of the Jewish Quarter, and 4) a walking tour of Prague Castle. This turned out to be a very big enjoyable day exploring beautiful Prague and learning it’s history.
