Highlights: Exploring the Louvre
What an exhausting visit to the Musee Du Louvre. Despite having a special access pass I still had to wait about 35 minutes to get though security (the world is so serious now). Now this museum is massive, and the crowds can almost overwhelm you but once you ignore the crowd you will experience some of the most amazing art in human history.
A real highlight was the Venus de Milo, which you had to queue up to see. I didn’t realise they had so much Egypt Art, I suppose it goes back to the French Empire days.
The Mona Lisa was quite good as well (except the crowds) and surprisingly small. You’re not supposed to take photos of the paintings but I got a couple. While I was there I got in the background of a news story.
The Museum allows some authorised painters to copy masterpieces and it was interesting to watch them paint. The Roman and Greek Antiquities are worth a visit as well. Be warned you need to be rested before going to this Museum.
Tomorrow I’m off very early to Belgium, hopefully I can find out where to catch the bus from.
