Highlights: Cardiff Castle, not throwing up (from overnight ferry).
Quite amazingly we got to Cardiff at about 6 am from Rosslare and caught a bus straight To Cardiff even though my stomach still hasn’t quite settled. At check in they forgot to get us to pay saving us a night’s accommodation!
After getting up very late (1.30 pm) we ventured out to visit Cardiff Castle. This castle was originally built in the Norman period (1066 to 1250) but has been rebuilt many times. The only part of the Castle older than 300 years is the keep in the middle.
In the late 1800s the outer castle was totally reconstructed into a medieval style. The guided tour highlighted all the old themes in each room. Quite interesting especially the hidden pictures of parrots everywhere.
The Castle is still used for special State occasions for example the Queen dined here before opening the new Welsh Parliament.
