Highlights: Girhardilli House, Fisherman’s Wharf, Cable Cars
We woke to very heavy rain but that is no excuse no to explore. We walked down to Fisherman’s Wharf and split up. Jon visited Alcartz which I skipped having been there only 14 months ago. Instead I explored the local area in particular the tourist designated Pier 39.
With Jon’s return we then visited the famous Girhardilli House for their excellent ice cream. Strangely the bad weather increased their sales. We followed this with a ride on the famous San Francisco Cable Cars.
For the evening we went on an organised walking tour that explained San Francisco’s history in particular the growth from the Gold Rush era. Australians even got a mention for starting a major fire. We were pointed to a small vacant lot that was worth $12 million and which no one actually ends up developing as they just want to keep selling the land it for profit.
