Thursday 21 July 2016.  Photos and Videos.
Highlights: Apricot Lounge Access, Tuk Tuk ride to Riverbank Phnom Penh

Today was light on for activities as the main objective was to leave Vietnam and head for Cambodia.  Hotel checkout was noon and other than breakfast I stayed in my room updating my journal and uploading Facebook photos and YouTube videos.

  • World Trip 2016: Day 12 Ho Chi Ming City, Vietnam

    July 21, 2016

Wednesday 20 July 2016.  Photos and Videos.
Highlights:  Cu Chi tunnels, final fitting for suits, Rex Hotel, Ben Thanh Market

The major highlight today was a trip to the Cu Chi tunnels which took us around 1.5 hours to get to.  The trip there and back was made a little easier by the bus having included wifi which is something I rarely come across when travelling, I think the last time was in Iceland. (more…)

  • World Trip 2016: Day 11 Hanoi to Ho Chi Ming City, Vietnam

    July 20, 2016

Tuesday 19 July 2016. Photos and Videos.
Highlights: Getting fitted for Tailored Suits, The War Remnants Museum, Cyclo Tour of Ho Chi Ming City.

It was an early morning, or supposed to be, to ensure we made our 9.55 flight from Hanoi to Ho Chi Ming City. However my alarm didn’t work luckily my sub-conscious alerted me it might be time to get up and make a dash to reception and the bus at the very last minute! There was just enough time to make the flight.

  • World Trip 2016: Day 10 Halong Bay and Hanoi, Vietnam

    July 19, 2016

Monday 18 July 2016. Photos and Videos.
Highlights: Hang Sung Sot Caves, Hoa Lo Prison (aka Hanoi Hilton),  Cyclo (Rickshaw) tour, Water Puppet Show

Waking up after a good nights sleep on the ocean with an air-conditioned room the sights I saw at 6 am made we wonder why I spend so much time in office meetings and less time closer to nature.  The sun had already risen but being so low it gave me a picture perfect start to the day of the different islands. • World Trip 2016: Day 9 Hanoi and Halong Bay, Vietnam

    July 18, 2016

Sunday 17 July 2016. Photos and Videos
Highlights: Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Titov Island, Rowboat around Islands

Today was split between the hectic Hanoi and the beautiful Halong Bay islands.  An early morning start meant evading a lot of motorcycles coming from every direction and a need to play human Frogger when trying to cross the road.  Lanes seem to mean little here, cars in the left lane can be going in either direction, and lights and crossings seem to mean even less.  To be fair I didn’t witness everyone getting hit despite expecting these every few seconds. • World Trip 2016: Day 7 – Luang Prabang, Laos

    July 16, 2016

Friday 15 July 2016. Photos and Videos
Highlights: The views from Mount Phousi, Tat Kuang Si Bear Rescue Centre, the amazing Kouang Si Waterfall.

A free morning for the group meant optional activities or a sleep in and pool day choice, I decided to head into town by myself and climb to the top of Mount Phousi and visit Wat Chomsi (top of mountain) and the Wat Tham Phousi shrine (which is about half way up).  Mount Phousi gives you a great view of both rivers surrounding Luang Prabang, the Meokng River and the Nam Khan River.

Today was our last day in Thailand and I have to say I’ve had a blast here.  When I booked this trip I was not expecting that much new in Thailand from given I’ve been here before but thanks to our Chief Experience Officer Ben and the many great activities in Chaing Mai it was a great positive surprise.

  • World Trip 2016: Day 4 – Chiang Mai, Thailand

    July 12, 2016

Tuesday 12 July 2016. Photos and Videos
Highlights: Elephant Park, Wat Doi Suthep Temple, Ladyboy Show

What an incredible day, ranging from nature and majestic animals, to religion, to outrageous singing and dancing.  I think that is Thailand in a nutshell where everything comes together in a hot mix of contradictions that somehow work together.
