    Highlights: Exploring the Petrovaradin Fortress, discovering Novi Sad.

    Today we left the relative comfort of Eastern Europe and moved further east into the Balkans. G Adventure had upgraded the transportation today from public bus to private minivan which was very welcomed.

    Highlights: Visiting the Cave Church on Gellert Hill, meeting new tour members

    Today was the end of the Best of Eastern Europe Tour and the start of the Croatia and the Balkans tour. While I booked this as one tour this does mean a new Chief Experience Officer (CEO), some tour members departing (Anne, Mary, Andres, and Doug) and some new tour members joining as we start the second leg.

    Highlights: Exploring Buda Castle, admiring Matthias Church, enjoying the stunning views of Fisherman’s Bastion, walking over Chain Bridge, examining the stalls at Budapest Central Market, marvelling at St Stephen’s Basilica, having a lovely dinner cruise on Danube River.

    A massive day exploring Budapest, in particular the Buda part of the city was ahead of Darby and me on this ‘free’ day to explore.

    Highlights: Visiting the Nem Adom Fel Cafe, St Stephen’s Basilica, the controversial Memorial for the victims of the German Occupation, the Soviet Heroic Memorial, surprising USA Presidents statues, the stunning Hungarian Parliament building, the massive Great Synagogue, and the cult Ruin Bar visit.

    Today we left Vienna behind travelling first by a short tram ride and then a long 2.5 hour train to Budapest, Hungary the final stop for the first leg of this tour. The train trip was delayed by almost an hour that had an impact for the rest of the day and evening.
