Highlights: Farewlling Erin, Sunset on Miami Beach

On day 25 of this world trip it was time to farewell my niece after an amazing adventure together. Erin was ready to go home after such a fast-paced trip. I’m not as sure I was ready for her to leave.

Erin got up at 4.30 am to get ready for her flight. I got up at just before 5.00 am to accompany her to the airport. The hotel airport shuttle left around 5.15 am and within minutes we were at the American Airlines Terminal (Concourse D).

We convinced the airport staff to let us get into the special service line. Erin’s bag was checked through to Sydney for her Miami to Los Angeles to Sydney to Melbourne flights. 

I reluctantly said goodbye to Erin as she joined the security line. A shuttle back to the Sheraton and I got some breakfast in the Hotel Lounge at 6.00 am and went back to bed for a few hours.

I checked out right on time at 11 am and ordered an Uber to move to Pestana South Beach Hotel. I was hoping this would be close to Maimi Beach but quiet enough to get some sleep.

As it was too early for check-in in I got my bag stored explored the area a little and got lunch. I eventually got my room and checked in on Erin’s progress to Los Angeles. 

At sunset, I went out to the beach and watched the light slowly vanish. The next and last stage of this trip begins on Boxing Day. Until then I just hoped Erin gets home safely.
