Frost Museum of Science – Miami, USA

Thursday 05 December
Highlights: Frost Museum of Science (Miami)

Our moving day to Quito, Ecuador was here as we woke up excited. We enjoyed the hotel’s buffet breakfast, and then we packed and stored our bags. We had one final objective for Miami – a visit to the Frost Museum of Science.

A 30-minute walk from our hotel was warmer than I expected. Erin purchased our tickets and we booked a Planetarium show as our main attraction. We headed to the roof to get a good view of the city, followed by a visit to the aquarium area to enjoy watching various fish, stingrays, sharks and corals.

During our museum visit we also visited interactive areas that ranged from wellness areas to space and flight-related tools. Erin delighted in creating a SupraNova and destroying universes! The Planetarium show was about black holes and was engaging.

After leaving we got lunch and walked back to the hotel. Picking up our bags I organised an Uber to the airport. There was a minor issue with the pickup.

We checked in 2 hours 40 minutes before our American Airlines flight in the premium area. I was once again subject to intensive rubdown from security. Not sure why this has happened twice now and this wasn’t a pat down but a rub down.

We then enjoyed some time in the American Airlines Flagship Lounge. Mostly this was only getting soft drinks, finger foods and charging devices. However, the Lounge had more to offer for example a chef to make you some selected dishes.

Our flight was delayed by 20 minutes and only had one agent scanning boarding passes slowing things down even more. On the plus side, both Erin and I had empty seats next to each other on an otherwise full flight.

We landed at 23:22 and completed Border Control at 23:53 and had our bags shortly after. However, our airport transport was waiting for two other passengers and they got stuck at Border Control as they were further down the back of the plane. Around 40 minutes later Casey and Ashlie were landside and our 40-minute drive to our hotel commenced.

We were in our rooms around 01:30, faced with only a few hours of sleep before our tour tomorrow we tried to get some sleep.
