Highlights: Reunion’s – Darby with Lana, me with Boots and Juno
The journey home can be a long one, especially from Europe and today was the end of that journey that start on Saturday 4 May back in Split. Today started with an overnight flight from Singapore (review here).
We landed just before 06:00 and after some difficulties with a Border Control kiosk Darby and I found ourselves officially back in Australia. However we got home so early our pick-up (my sister, Darby’s mother Lana) was still 40 minutes away. This meant we got some breakfast and reflected a little on our journey.
After being picked up (thank you Lana) we headed to see my mum. Unfortunately this trip meant I missed my mum’s 80th birthday. I did managed a video call from Budapest on 21 April but it’s never the same. A quick hello and chat, I’ll see mum again on Sunday for a longer catch up.

From here it was a visit to the cattery to pick up my 5 year old cats in Boots and Juno. This is only the second time in their lives I’ve left them in a cattery. While it is more like a cat resort and per day it costs my more than my tours, I still feel guilty.
I found them sleeping under a blanket together. While I didn’t get the run to me welcome back that I wanted I think they were happy to see me. During the ride home Juno’s was a little vocal with Boots just chilling like usual.
I said goodbye to Darby after 33 days of travelling together when we got to Southbank. Once released Boots and Juno explored the apartment while I cleaned up and did some laundry.
Whatever concerns they had with me leaving them before the end of the day I had cats sleeping on my chest and arms. During the night Boots wrapped himself around my arm.

Welcome back home.
