Highlights: Orientation walk of beautiful Prague, The Prague Astronomical Clock

Today was moving day from Krakow (Poland) to Prague (Czech Republic). We left our hotel at 7.15 am with our minibus taking us to Bus Station for a public regional bus Krakow to Ostrava (Czech Republic). This was a 2 hour bus trip on a very nice bus that had Wi-Fi and seatback entertainment system.

From Ostrava we switch to a regional train to take us the rest of the way to Prague. This was roughly a 3 hour train trip in very comfortable assigned seats. Wi-Fi was included and a free water bottle provided in our economy seats. I could only wish airplanes had such economy seats!

After checking in at our hotel for the next three nights, Miss Sophie’s Downtown, our group gathered for Christin to take us on a 1.5 hour orientation walk of this beautiful city. This allowed us to get local currency as well.

During this introduction walk Christin took us to see Henry’s Bell Tower, the Powder Tower, the amazing Old Town Square with it many highlights, we watched the Prague Astronomical Clock perform on the hour, visited the Jewish Quarter, and finally we stopped at the Vltava River which gave us a view of Prague Castle.

While I saw most of these during my stay here back in 2006 I had better context this time. Several of us worked out our plans for tomorrow’s free day. Later in the evening several o us organised to go to a local restaurant to try Czech food.

I’m looking forward to the next 2 full days in Prague.
