SUMMARY
The Qantas International Business Class Lounge Melbourne is known as ‘the dungeon’ for good reason. It is located in the basement and has no natural light. While functional and having all the modern facilities and options an international business lounge should have it is dated and tired and badly needly a refresh. Definitely better than sitting at the Gate but not a Lounge worth using a lounge pass to access.
ACCESS RULES
- First and Business Class passengers on Qantas Airlines and Oneworld Airline International flights
- Oneworld Emerald or Sapphire Member on International Oneworld or Qantas partner airline
- Qantas Platinum or Gold Member flying on any Qantas partner airline including Jetstar
- Qantas Lounge Pass
I gained access as Qantas Lifetime Gold Member flying on a Jetstar flight to Singapore in economy (review here).
LOUNGE LOCATION
Terminal 2 (International Terminal). Airside, Level 1, enter via departures concourse near the end of the terminal.
Lounge Opening hours: 5am to 11pm (Wednesday, Friday and Sunday) or 5am to 8.45pm (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday)
LOUNGE AREA
The lounge covers a large area and can apparently seat up to 350 guests. The lounge contains several separate areas, including a business centre with printers (all not working on this visit), dining and bar-style tables, rest and TV areas, and a kids’ zone.

Toilets and showers are available in the middle of the lounge.
FOOD AND DRINKS
I arrived just before breakfast service was concluded. Hot breakfast food options where sausages and scrambled eggs. There were also options for cereals and orange juice. A pancake making machines and toast were other options.

Further along there was a salad bar and ingredients to make yourself a sandwich. The were various biscuits and sweets located at different points in the lounge. You could help yourself to soft drink, water, tea, coffee, beer, and wines.
