The worst thing about coming home is missing the excitment that comes from having something new to experience and learn each day while travelling.
One sure cure is to start looking at the next adventure. I’d known for some time that 2024 I would be travelling with my niece Erin after she completes Year 12 and turns eighteen.
While it will be to new places this trip will mirror the type of adventure I experienced to Erin’s older brother when he finished High School in 2009 and we visited USA, Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, Bolivia, Peru, New Zealand (see here). A chance to see and experience a new culture and region as an adult.
We had been talking on and off about this trip probably for 6 years. Many options have come and gone but a visit to Galápagos Islands as always been a central part and it remains our destination.
I’ve just completed an initial draft plan to see what is possible and to work out the costs. As there are two people for me to pay for (this is a graduation gift to Erin) I need to work out how to pay for the trip as well. Exploring Ecuador including The Amazon, Volcanoes, the local culture and then the Galápagos Islands is the plan.
Draft World Trip 2024 Ecuador and USA
I was given some restrictions for this trip, it had to be after Erin’s birthday (late November) and preferably back by Christmas. Travelling in December from Australia is usually very expensive, normally I’d leave the country earlier if possible.
Given my contining positive experiences with G Adventures my first preference is to travel with them and I’ve found two tours that I believe we can combine.

The ship for the 7 day and 7 nights cruise is the Reina Silvia Voyager which looks pretty good to me.

Exploring the Amazon is also one of my items on my Bucket List.

I deliberately put off visiting the Galápagos Islands as I knew I’d be going with Erin in 2024 and after all this time I can’t wait to explore this region.

The road is calling once again 🙂
